Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris and wet messes in one session and without the need to switch between devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer for its affordable price, and it's among the easiest robots we've tested to install. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you running with a clean and complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in a matter of minutes.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. Its mops spin at high speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app that lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You can, for example, ask the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models are unable to. Its only issue is that it is known to smash into objects and walls at full speed. However, a quick look at the cleaning history on the app will show you exactly what the robot vacuums best accomplished, where it's going, and which obstacles he has run into or avoided.

A convenient LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance tasks need to be done like emptying the debris tray and rinsing its dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent into the water tank in a controlled manner with a 600ml of eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time as well, with the mop being able to operate for 184 minutes in Quiet mode, while the vacuum is able to do 136 minutes in normal mode before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. 2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's top robot vacuum and mop. The model this year has two agitators built into its mopping pad. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power that enables it to remove finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners may miss.

As with the two other Roborock models I've tried the S8 Pro Ultra has a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further by incorporating a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining if they are walls or other surfaces. It is able to change its path in a way that is automatic and clean around the objects, without missing a step.

It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested, but it also has the most features. Its sleek, angular design is attractive and it only has three physical buttons that include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock; and a home button that can send the robot back to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin auto-refills.

The only negative I found with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. It is possible to change the mopping cloth if required, but it's a challenge to remove the mount for manual washing. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot cleaner passes will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and could cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a variety of clever features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app allows you to manage and set up these features. It also includes maps and advanced mopping options. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor battery life and component maintenance. You'll have to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. This is a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

Unlike some other robots that vacuum and mop that solely focus on one task, the X40 can perform mopping and vacuuming simultaneously or separately. It can also be programmed to avoid areas with carpets and mop only hard floors or reverse the process. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple to use and understand The X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are easy to configure. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at floor plans and maps, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also monitor its progress, and alert you when it is finished.

The X40 is easy-to-maintain and offers numerous features that make it a perfect option for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It can also detect whether the mop pad is at its capacity to the max and notify you of the situation before it overflows.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's one of the most expensive models available and comes with many extra features that set it apart. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This utilizes two mops that are high-speed to clean floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it comes with the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also vacuum up pet hair, dirt particles and pick up spills and dirty spots.

The mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after each use. This is a great feature because it prevents the build-up of odours and mould in storage, and it also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and it could be a useful method to keep your home hygienic for longer.

There's a wealth of settings on offer which include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and adjust a number of different preferences.
