Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage and more AD or even more affixes.

Armor

All tiers of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for them. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without destroying the original. However it is only possible to replace one jewel in an item of equipment once.

Utilizing more jewels in a move will make it more smooth and is typically used to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Jewels also enhance performance and create a harder surface than metal so that repeated friction from pivots does not cause damage to the movement.

In addition to the above upgrades players can also get glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also a scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrade-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item level upgrade to be upgraded. This is especially true if you want to upgrade multiple stats on an item upgrader. It is best to upgrade just one crucial stat instead of two subpar ones.
