The Best Robot Hoover

The best automatic vacuum and mop robot hoover (Continued) can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Examine your robot's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin located at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum mop cleaner robot and mop uses sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide better cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's loud, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the amount of dirt they are.

If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot autonomous vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
